Monica & Brandy takes us back to the 90s’s during their highly anticipated battle.

Following their classic 1998 duet, “The Boy Is Mine” singers reunited after more than two decades. At least 1.2 million fans flooded the live stream, officially breaking the Verzuz viewership record. For three hours the R&B stars shared their catalogue, threw shade, and even welcomed a surprise guess.

Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris called in with a live message to thank the singers for supporting Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote campaign.

“I just wanted to thank you ladies, you queens, you stars, you icons for doing this for When We All Vote, it’s so important.” Harris said.

“you both have used your voice in such a powerful way, and an extension of our voices is our vote.”

Of course, our forever First Lady made a few appearances in the comment section.

It’s no secret that Timbaland & Swiss Beat’s virtual battle series has been the entertainment of quarantine. You had legendary artists Eryka Badu & Jill Scott, Snoop Dogg vs. DMX and more.

The two singers opened with a tribute for late actor Chadwick Boseman, the 43-year-old who unexpectedly passed after a four year battle with cancer. Monica debuted a new song, “ Trenches,” featuring Lil Baby. The night ran through 21 rounds while in between discussing their past feud, sharing stories, showing equal admiration, and singing along to other’s songs. During one exchange, Monica shows Brandy her admiration.

“I really am a straight shooter and I really do admire what you do musically…” In reply, Brandy says that she has nothing but the utmost love and respect for the artist.

As the battle came to end, the singers closed the show and sang their hearts out with their classic duet, “The Boy Is Mine.” As the music started to fade out & and the show came to an end, Brandy leaves us with an exciting comment by saying “Please be on the look out for the tour.” Could there be a possible tour in the making? Seems like we gotta wait to find out.
